Profile:

Yuroke is an electorate located in Melbourne's outer northern fringe. Included within its boundaries are the suburbs of Attwood, Craigieburn, Greenvale, Kalkallo, Mickleham and Yuroke, as well as parts of Roxburgh Park, Somerton, and Westmeadows.

Created in 2002, it has always been very safe for the Labor Party and is generally of a working class nature. According to the 2016 Census, the seat also has a higher proportion of residents who identify as religious compared to the national average, with followers of Christianity, Catholicism and Islam being over-represented. As are people with foreign backgrounds.

Political Party: Liberal.

Jim Overend is a Craigieburn resident and has lived in the area with his wife and children for nearly 30 years. He volunteers as the treasurer for Selwyn house (Craigieburn Education and community centre) assisting the non profit organisation and helps with the distribution of food to the underprivileged. He is also the organiser of the annual Craigieburn Car, Truck & Bike Show.

Ros Spence has been the MP for Yuroke since the 2014 State Election. Prior to her election to state parliament, she was a councillor and former mayor of the City of Hume. She is married to Victorian Labor assistant state secretary Kosmos Samaras.

Assessment:
