Profile:

Yan Yean is an electorate located in Melbourne's outer northern fringe. It contains the towns of Hurstbridge, Plenty, Whittlesea and Yan Yean.

The district was created in 1992 and has always been a Labor held, albeit marginal, electorate. The electorate is generally working class with both trades and administrative workers being over-represented compared to the state average.

Political Party: Labor (Incumbent MP)

Danielle Green has been the MP for Yan Yean since the 2002 State Election. Before being elected, she worked as an electorate officer for Andre Haermeyer who at the time was the MP for Yan Yean. She active in many local community groups, including the local Country Fire Authority (CFA) as well as being the No.1 ticket holder of the Greensborough Hockey Club

Political Party: Liberal

Meralyn Klein was previously a Councillor for the Nillumbik Shire Council, until her defeat at the 2016 Local Government elections.

Prediction:

Labor retain favoured

Yan Yean was once a safer seat, but it was made more marginal at the last state redistribution. It would be winnable for the Liberal Party if they were doing well across the state.
