Prediction:

Labor - 2, Liberal - 1. Fourth seat - tossup between Greens, Labor and Liberal. Final seat - tossup between Liberal and right-leaning minor parties.

The first Labor and Liberal seats are safe for their respective parties, as is the second Labor seat. The last two seats, however, are in play in the Western Metropolitan region.

The Greens retained the fourth seat on the back of significant preference flows in 2014 and may struggle to hold on after losing Colleen Hartland's profile after holding a seat since 2006. This seat will likely come down between the second Liberal, the third Labor, and the first Greens candidate.

The last seat is currently held by Rachel Carling-Jenkins, formerly of the Democratic Labour Party, who is not standing for reelection to the upper house. The final seat, however, will likely be returned to the Liberals or to a Right-leaning minor party.
