Profile:

The South-West Coast electorate covers the south-western portion of Victoria. It contains the regional city of Warrnambool as well as the towns of Portland, Port Fairy, Koroit, Heywood and Macarthur.

The seat has always been held by the Liberal Party. Though the Liberals did come dangerously close to losing the seat in 2002 (when it was created) in the Labor landslide that year. Since then, however, the Liberal Party have held the seat by increasingly larger margins.

Mike Neoh serves as a Councillor on the Warnambool City Council, formerly serving as Mayor. He stood as the Nationals endorsed candidate at the the South-West Coast 2015 by-election.

Jim Doukas was born and raised in Mailor’s Flat on a dairy farm after his parents migrated from Macedonia. He currently serves as a Councillor for the Shire of Moyne Council and has previously served as Mayor.

Terry Riggs is a long time unionist and socialist and lives in the Western Districts. He has a history of involvement through his contribution as a CFA Captain, Community Hall President, Shop Steward and Health and Safety Representative.

Roma Britnell has been the MP for South-West Coast since the 2015 South-West Coast state by-election. She currently operates Briland dairy farms with her husband at Woolsthorpe in south-western Victoria. Prior to her election she was the vice-president of United Dairy farmers of Victoria, chairwoman of WestVic Dairy and was a Nuffield Farming Scholar in 2011. She also worked as a nurse for almost 30 years and spent 15 years working in community health at the Framlingham Aboriginal Community.

James Purcell was born and raised in Bessiebelle. He grew up on the family farm with his five siblings, before matriculating from Heywood High and earning his accounting qualification in Warrnambool. He has owned and operated Australian and international businesses and has worked in senior financial positions with many of the world's largest corporations, including Amcor and Glaxo (10 years in Port Fairy, Melbourne and London) and now has his own Port Fairy based accounting firm and self storage business. He is the former Mayor of the Moyne Shire and currently serves in the Legislative Council representing the Western Victoria Region.
