Profile:

Sandringham is an electorate located on Melbourne's eastern bayside and includes the suburbs of Beaumaris, Black Rock and Sandringham and parts of Cheltenham, Hampton, Highett, and Mentone.

The electorate, in existence since the 1950's, is generally safe for the Liberal Party. The Labor Party last gained the seat in 1982 before losing it in 1985.

Incumbent MP:

Murray Thompson (Liberal) - since 1992. Pictured right. He is not standing for reelection in 2018.

Political Party: Liberal.

Brad Rowswell is senior communications manager for Raytheon Australia. He previously worked in media advisor roles for a number of state and federal MPs - including as Media Advisor to Michael Ronaldson, then-Special Minister for State from 2013 to 2014; and Senior Media Advisor for David Johnson, then-Minister for Defence in late 2014 and then for Kevin Andrews from late 2014 to mid-2015.


Prediction:

Liberal retain

Unless another high profile independent candidate were to run, Sandringham should revert back to being a safe Liberal seat in 2018.
