Profile:

The seat of Ovens Valley covers much of north-east rural Victoria. The district centers on the town of Wangaratta, and also includes the towns of Yarrawonga, Cobram, and other towns in the local government areas of Moira, Wangaratta, and Alpine.

The electorate was created in 2014 and largely replaced the abolished seat of Murray Valley - a seat that had always been held by the Nationals, usually without any serious challenge. Ovens Valley is also very safe for the Nationals.

Political Party: Australian Country Party/Give It Back

Julian Fidge served in the army and has been awarded the Humanitarian Overseas Service Medal for his service in The Congo in 1994 during the Rwandan emergency as well as other medals for his service in East Timor with an ANZAC battle group in 2006/2007. He later left the army to pursue his education, gaining a Bachelor of Pharmacy, Graduate Diploma of Applied Science (Computer Science), Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons and is currently studying a Master of Medicine (Pain Management). He has a medical practice in Wangaratta, and is a Director of several companies.

Tim McCurdy has been the MP for Ovens Valley since the 2014 State Election, previously serving as the MP for Murray Valley from 2010 up until that seat was abolished in 2014.

Tammy Atkins is a small business owner, mother and lives on a small farm in Milawa. She has worked with the Wangaratta Local Drug Action Team, is Deputy Chair of the Wodonga TAFE and is a board member of the Into Our Hands Community Foundation.
