Profile:

Oakleigh is an electorate in south-eastern Melbourne and covers the suburbs of Carnegie, Murrumbeena, Hughesdale, Notting Hill, Oakleigh East, Oakleigh and parts of Chadstone, Glen Waverley, Mount Waverley, Glen Huntly, Mulgrave and Ormond.

The district was historically a marginal electorate, changing hands fairly regularly - generally during a change of government. In recent years, however, the seat has firmed up for the Labor Party - with the Liberals last holding the seat during the Kennett Government.

Steve Dimopoulos has been the MP for Oakleigh since 2014 State Election. Prior to his election, he was a small business owner and served as a Councillor for the City of Monash Council.

Andrew Edmonds has worked as a police officer for the last 18 years; working the streets, managed critical incidents and led dignitary protection teams. He is a qualified and experienced Crisis Negotiator and now serves the state from the air at the Victoria Police Air Wing. He has previously worked as a Medic serving the Australian Army and with over 20 years of reserve experience he saw active service in the Middle East and Afghanistan in 2009. He has lived in the Oakleigh electorate for over 30 years.
