Profile:

Narre Warren South, an electorate located in Melbourne's outer east, contains the suburbs of Narre Warren South, and Cranbourne North. The district also contains parts of Hallam, Hampton Park, Narre Warren, Berwick and Beaconsfield.

The district is diverse but generally skilled working class, with trades workers and technicians making up a majority of its workforce - however, professionals, administrative workers and labourers also constitute significant portions of the workforce in the area. Muslims are also over-represented in this electorate (9.0%), compared to the rest of Victoria (3.3%) with significant portions of the population having Indian, Sri Lankan and Afghan ancestry.

The district, created in 2002, is generally a marginal electorate. Despite its status as a marginal seat, it has always been held by the Labor Party.

Incumbent MP:

Judith Graley (Labor) - since 2006. Pictured right. She is not standing for reelection in 2018.

Gary Maas has worked for the National Union of Workers (NUW) for the last 15 years working in organising, research, legal, advocacy, communications, campaigning and leadership roles. He has served as the NUW Victorian Secretary for the last four years, while also serving as National Vice President of the union. He is also a Board Director of public relations and communications company, The Creative Works.
