Profile:

Mount Waverley is an electorate located in Melbourne's eastern suburbs, containing the suburbs of Glen Waverley, Mount Waverley and Syndal.

The seat is generally marginal. Created in 2002, the seat was won by Labor in that year's state election and retained it in 2006. In 2010, the Liberal Party gained the seat and retained it in 2014.

Political Party: Liberal (Incumbent MP)

Michael Gidley has been the MP for Mount Waverley since the 2010 State Election. He previously worked as an accountant and is a former Young Liberals president. He describes himself as pro life and as a monarchist. In 2015 he voted against banning anti abortion protesters from protesting outside abortion clinics.

Liberal retain favoured

Mount Waverley was held by Labor prior to the 2010 State Election, so it definitely isn't out of Labor's reach in 2018. They would, however, have to be performing well across the state.
