Profile:

Lara covers the nothern suburbs of Geelong, as well as the rural northern outskirts of the City of Greater Geelong local government area.

The electorate, created in 2002, as well as its predecessor, Geelong North, is of a staunchly working class nature and as such, has always been safe for the Labor Party.

Bronwen Baker lives in Lara and is heavily involved in many aspects of animal welfare and advocacy. She co-manages a local rescue and shelter that specialises in the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of domestic animals and has been very involved in several campaigns, rallies and protests. She stood in the City of Greater Geelong Council Elections in 2017.

Political Party: Labor (Incumbent MP)

John Eren has been the MP for Lara since the 2006 State Election, serving as Minister for Sport, Tourism and Major Events and Veterans' Affairs in the Andrews government. He previously represented the Geelong Province in the Legislative Council from 2002 to 2006. He, at a young age, was a shop steward at Ford for the Vehicle Builders Union, later becoming an electorate officer for Kelvin Thomson the Federal Member for Wills for over five years.
