Profile:

Kororoit is a district located in Melbourne's west and covers the suburbs of Albanvale, Caroline Springs as well as some parts of Deer Park and St Albans.

The seat was created in 2002 and has always been one of the safest Labor held seats in the state.

Kororoit fits a stereotypical working class profile and contains a very large Vietnamese population compared to the state average. Most of the workforce comprises of people working in blue collar occupations. Most people identify as Catholic, while Buddhism and Islam also have relatively large followings.

Political Party: Labor (Incumbent MP)

Marlene Kairouz has been the MP for Kororoit since the 2008 Kororoit state by-election, currently serving as Minister for Consumer Affairs, Gaming and Liquor Regulation. She worked as a histologist prior to working at the Australian Workers' Union and becoming active in politics.

Political Party: Liberal

Golam Haque moved to Melbourne from Bangladesh 15 years ago and has become a strong advocate for migrant communities. He has been intricately involved in the Melbourne Bangladeshi community and has a degree in Automotive Engineering from RMIT, and works as a branch manager for an education and migration agent company. He stood for Melton City Council in 2016.

Prediction:

Labor retain

Kororoit is a very safe Labor seat and this status would only likely be overturned by a high profile independent candidate running.
