Seat of Ferntree Gully

(Outer Eastern Melbourne)
Fairly Safe. Liberal 7.8%

Profile:

Fentree Gully is located in Melbourne's east, and is centered on the suburb of Ferntree Gully and contains its neighbouring suburbs at the foothills of the Dandenong Ranges.

The seat, created for the 2002 election to replace the abolished electorate of Knox, was won by Labor in that election which was a landslide victory across the state for the party. Since 2006, however, it has been held by the Liberal Party. It's predecessor, Knox, was also a fairly reliable retain for the Liberals; being gained by Labor on an occasional basis.

Incumbent MP:

Nick Wakeling (Liberal) - since 2006. Pictured right.

Prediction:

Liberal retain favoured

Ferntree Gully has been held by Labor in the relatively recent past, so it is by no means out of Labor's reach. However, they would have to be doing well across the board.
