Seat of Eltham

(Outer Eastern Melbourne)
Marginal. Labor 2.7%

Profile:

The Eltham electorate is located in the outer north-eastern suburbs of Melbourne. The district includes the suburbs of Eltham, Lower Plenty as well as parts of Greensborough and Kangaroo Ground.

Eltham is generally a marginal electorate, though it does tend to lean towards Labor - who have held the seat since the 2002 State Election. Despite the seat's status as a marginal electorate, the Liberals were unable to gain it at the 2010 election.

The electorate is demographically diverse, tending to match roughly with the state average for ethnicity, religion, education level and employment. The population, however, does tend to be slightly higher educated and employed in more white-collar occupations compared to the state average.

Incumbent MP:

Vicki Ward (Labor) - since 2014. Pictured right.
