Profile:

The seat of Benambra is located in the north east of Victoria and includes the towns of Baranduda, Barnawartha, Beechworth, Chiltern, Corryong, Eskdale, Kiewa, Mitta Mitta, Mount Beauty, Rutherglen, Tallangatta, Tangambalanga, Tawonga, Wahgunyah, Wodonga and Yackandandah.

The seat is one of the original electorates that has been contested in every state election uninterrupted. It has always been held by the conservative parties.

Political Party: Independent

Jacqui Hawkins is a former Advisor to independent Federal MP for Indi Cathy McGowan. She grew up on a farm at Staghorn Flat and attended Wodonga Senior Secondary College before graduating from La Trobe University with an arts degree. She is currently completing postgraduate studies in international relations and is a Border Trust board member.

Bill Tilley has been the MP for Benambra since the 2006 State Election. Prior to his election, he served in the Australian Army and then Victoria Police.
