Profile:

Situated in the western suburbs of Melbourne, the seat of Altona includes the suburbs of Altona, Altona Meadows, Laverton, Point Cook, Seabrook and Seaholme. It also includes the RAAF Williams airbase and the Point Cook Coastal Park. Created in 1992, the seat has always been held by the Labor Party by very large margins.

Jill Hennessy has been the MP for Altona since the 2010 State Election. Prior to her election, she worked as a solicitor specialising in personal injury and employment law, and was a senior advisor to former Victorian premier Steve Bracks.
